January 2024 AIPF Report to the USPA Executive Committee
Good morning and thanks for inviting me and for your interest in the AIPF.
Since our last report, we have acted on the following:
On December 13th, Justin Powers contacted me to set up a time to discuss an opportunity for AIPF to help with a youth polo initiative from Chrys Beal and Julio Arellano. Plans are being made to have a discussion in January.
On December 17th, Jeff Hall informed us that he would not be entering a USA team in the Gauntlet as training for International Day 2024.
On December 21st the I/I Program approached AIPF to facilitate a proposed $10,000.00 donation from Dr. Lee Bob Harper, son in law of the late Clyde Waddell, a longtime coach and supporter of Texas Tech polo and the greater I/I Program. After completing some needed revisions to AIPF By-Laws, that came to light in the process, we were able to accept the donation. It was decided that I/I will find a suitable perpetual award that will represent the newly created: Clyde C. Waddell, Jr. USPA Division II National Intercollegiate Sportsmanship Award AIPF will purchase the award and the remaining funds will go to support the purchase of the annual awards, presented to the winner.
We plan to use the opportunity to raise funds for this and similar efforts.
Finally, on January 11th we received our monthly pass-through donation report for December 2023. We raised a total of $1150.00 from 27 individual donors. We had made an appeal in an earlier edition of This Week in Polo and plan to issue reminders to USPA Members as they renew their 2024 Dues.
Thanks for the opportunity and for your continued support. Ed Armstrong
